Sales and Account Manager Thermoform (Remote)

Sales and Account Manager – Thermoform
The Sales and Account Manager – Thermoform is responsible for meeting sales objectives of thermoformed PET products to ensure company revenue and profitability goals are achieved.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead rPlanet Earth (rPE) new business development activity related to thermoformed packaging products for target customers and prospects in select food industries, including deli, foodservice, bakery, produce, meat/protein packing, and others.
- Solidify relationships at all levels of existing core accounts; identify and secure business with new accounts.
- Assess and analyze markets as required in the development of new custom products and stock product lines.
- Must think strategically and represent rPE as the primary sales executive to thermoform customers and prospects.
- Fine-tune rPE value proposition and differentiation for thermoformed products with consideration for market dynamics and competitive trends.
- Continuously drive profitable growth beginning with identifying customer/market opportunities and persistent motivation to find win/win solutions.
- Serve as liaison between customer and internal stakeholders; assist rPE demand planning by facilitating customer forecasting in order to enable highest levels of customer service.
- Assist in establishing appropriate pricing strategy for stock and custom product lines and respective customers.
- Cultivate all key stakeholder relationships and partnerships: customers, internal team, industry colleagues, experts and consultants.
- Diligently utilize CRM to monitor progress and drive results.
- Things can change quickly. Must be able to understand effect of external changes, pivot either tactical or strategic focus for specific products and steer rPE adjustments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High volume packaging sales/marketing/business development.
- Strong exposure to thermoform packaging market in western region and relevant markets, including produce, deli, bakery, protein packing, and adjacent segments.
- Direct experience negotiating profitable sales and pricing of thermoformed packaging products.
- Relevant technical knowledge and acumen, including exposure to extrusion, thermoforming, package design, and tooling.
- Direct experience and personal regional connections with multi-channel market approach: direct to brand owners, co-manufacturers, retailers/processors/operators/distributors.
- Strong familiarity of package sustainability and recycling legislation in the US, particularly Western region.
- Exposure to relevant trade associations (Food Industry Associations and Plastic Packaging).
- Direct professional experience using structured selling process (e.g., Miller Heiman, Sandler, etc.).
- Direct professional experience utilizing CRM process & tools (e.g., Dynamics CRM, Salesforce).
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in direct or outside sales and business development as a “hunter”.
- Demonstrated ability to find new business, build strong relationships and develop deep understanding of customer business needs, drivers and success factors.
- Track record of strong, profitable sales growth in identified target markets, including bakery, food service/deli, meat/protein packing, and produce.
- In-depth sales, sales management, strategic planning and execution skills.
- Executive level interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and quickly build credibility to maximize organizational growth and profitability.
- Demonstrated ability to interact and debate key sales and marketing activities with executive leadership.
- Demonstrated team player, can work with the rPE organization to get results.
- Strong skills in MS Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint required, experience working with a CRM system preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, packaging, or related field.
Salary range
The anticipated salary range for this position is $130k – $160k annually (Bonus eligible) and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, recent years of experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business needs, scope and level.
